Biography: Attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, from 1850 to 1854. Taught school in Boyle County from 1849 to 1854 and in Columbia from 1855 to 1859. Presbyterian minister in Columbia and Ebenezer, Kentucky, from 1855 to 1859 and in Keokuk, Iowa, in 1859. Minister at the Chesnut Street Presbyterian Church in Louisville from 1859 to 1871. Trustee at Centre College from 1862 to 1869.
