James Speed to Thomas E. Bramlette

Louisville, Septr 19th 1863—
Dear Sir,

This will make you acquainted with J. Hop Price, Esqr, of this city, Mr Price is taking a most laudable & active interest in the fate of this Negro woman who is under sentence of death in the Jefferson circuit court- I know that you will give him a most anxious hearing- the cause he is engaged in will commend to you more than any words of mine- He is perfectly persuaded that she is innocent

I am sir, most
truly yr frd
