Married to Victoria Ara Nunn Whitecotton in Crittenden County, Kentucky, on September 25, 1860. Father of George O. Whitecotton. Resident of Union County, Kentucky, in 1850. Laborer in Union County in 1860. Served in the 10th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a private from August 20, 1862, to June 23, 1864. Captured at Salineville, Columbiana County, Ohio, on July 26, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, Illinois from August 22, 1863 to June 23, 1864. Escaped from Camp Douglas on June 23, 1864.
