Burlington County, New Jersey, machinist and soldier. Native of Scotland. Son of John Eckings and Elizabeth Eckings. Machinist in Burlington County, New Jersey, in 1860. Served in the 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant from September 13, 1862 to June 27, 1863. Served in the 34th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a captain and major from September 21, 1863 through December 31, 1865.
