Caldwell County, Kentucky, farm laborer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Caroline McGowan. Student in Caldwell County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned five enslaved persons in Caldwell County in 1850. Farm laborer Princeton in 1860. Served in the 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry (C.S.A.) as a private and corporal from August 19, 1861 to April 8, 1864. Reported as deserted from Princeton on April 8, 1864. Signed a loyalty oath to the U. S. government on April 15, 1864.
