Lawrence County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Virginia native. Son of Ambrose Holbrook and Nancy Holbrook. Farmer in Lawrence County in 1850. Farmer in Lawrence County in 1860. Served in the 14th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as first sergeant and second lieutenant from December 10, 1861, to August 17, 1864. Captured at Lawrence County on February 15, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Chase, Ohio, until August 1863.
