Indiana and Kentucky musician and soldier. Indiana native. Son of Lucy Lawrence. Student in LaGrange County, Indiana, in 1850. Served in the 7th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a musician from April 23, 1861, to August 6, 1861. Served in the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from September 13, 1862, to September 23, 1863. Served in the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as major from March 28, 1865, to September 28, 1865.
