I have the honor to Report to you of for, the first Time Since I left Frankfort I Reached home on the 18^th ultimo I found the whole country full of Horse thieves and cut throats I continued, My March with abatallion of the 35 Ky, Mtd Inf we left Ruselliville on the 17^th passd through greenvill and madisonville then to Slaughtersvill, and dixon to morganfield We Reach,d, Moranfield at ten oclock on the morning of the 21^st we found about ten guirillars to charged, on them and killd three, captured Several horses
We reachd her yesterday Eavening we Still Remain here, We have had some skirmishing all day without gaining any advantage I think that we will get them to fight I think that the guirilars members about.400, we have only ,175, men all told & [...]

I wish, general, Lindsey to forward on to Bowlinggreen at Least ,200, twoo hundred guns, of the Ballard, paters, or good carbines with a good Suply of amunition I will take my men and go to Rusells or Bowlinggreen after them & [...]

Pleas forward these Imediatly Be sure to Send the Ballard Rifle for one company and oblige yours

Gives an account of his expedition with a Bat of 35^th Ky. mtd. Inft from Russellsville to this place. He reached his home on the 18^th May. and found his county full of Guerillars. continued with the 35^th to Union town. Wants 200 Ballard guns or Carbines sent to Bowling Green or Russellville-- wants the B,llrd rifle for one company at least. Wants ordinance stores also. Will take his Reg. to either place for them.

The G,rllas arrested hung & shot a Loyal citizen of Morganfield as a spy, but he was not.
