To His Excelency
Beriah Magoffin Gov. of Kentucky

The Undersignd would Respectfully represent, That having learnd that a petition ^has been presented to you^ signd by the presiding Judge of the Circuit Court of Christian County, The lawyers of the bar, ^all the Jurors^ and Numerous Citizens of said County. preying for Excutiv Clemancy in behalf of one Jason Ladd of said county who was convicted in said court of participating in stealing a horse, and sentenced to a term of service in the state prison for so participating.

And believing the ends of publick Justice hav been fully subservd in the time the said Ladd has already servd in the state prison, and believing that publick sentiment in the County in which said Ladd resides wil-not only Justify, but wil with great unaminity approve your exercise of the Executiv Clemancy in his behalf. We desire to unite our Petition with others that the said Ladd may be releasd from the remainder of his sentance --
said Ladd being a very poor man with a large family of wife and daughters, mainly dependant upon his labour for support. We prey that he may be discharged immediately so he may return to his home in time to prepare for planting his spring crop. And would further pray, that in view of his good behaviour, and faithful service since he has been in the state Prison. ~~That~~ and of his being a very poor man -- a long distance from his home, and amongst strangers, That your Excellency cause to be furnished to him a suit of cloths, and money to defray his travling expenses to his home.
