To His Excellency Tho^s E Bramlete Governor of the State Kentucky

Your Petitioner Jas Sullivan would humbly and respectfuly state and say that he has been ^fined=6 Indictments 4 at $50 each & 2 at $20 each^ in= The sum Two hundred forty dollars at February term of the Franklin Circuit Court upon the charge of selling liquor to minors and Negroes contrary to the laws of this State Your humble Petitioner would most respectfuly state that he had obtained and paid for the license and Government tax to keep Tavern at Peaks Mill in this County and that he did carry on said Tavern business in said place during the time the said breaches are charged to have been made, and That in the conducting of said Tavern business he had a clerk employed whose business it was to attend to the Bar Room and That he did expressley order & command said Bar Keeper to observe strictly the law in regard to minors and negroes all of which your Pettitioner was able to and ^did^ show before the court and ~~the fine~~ yet these fines were assesed your Pettitioner does solemly aver that he did not himself sell or authorise any one to sell for him to Minors or Negroes at ~~[...]~~ of the times charged Your Pettitioner does therefore respectfuly ask that executive clemency be extended to him & that you remit said fines he would say that he is a poor man in feeble health with a young & helpless family and that he is by no means able to pay said fines without greatly pressing his wife & children
