Married to Elizabeth Jackson Huston on December 21, 1854. Graduate of Centre College in 1833. Teacher at Walnut Hill in Fayette County, Kentucky. Assistant instructor at Centre College in Danville. Studied law under Judge Daniel Mayers and Joshua F. Bell. Graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington in 1835. Attorney in Winchester from 1837 to 1864. Member of the Whig Party. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Clark County in 1839, from 1855 to 1859, and from 1861 to 1863. Member of the Democratic Party. Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1855 to 1857.
