Served in the 11th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant from September 22, 1862 to July 12, 1865. Captured in Monroe County, Tennessee, on October 20, 1863. Prisoner of war in Richmond, Virginia from November 1, 1863 to May 7, 1864. Prisoner of war in Macon, Georgia from May 7, 1864 to March 1, 1865.
