Married to Ann Eliza Richardson Hall in Buchanan County, Missouri, on October 28, 1847. Father of William R. Hall, Willard P. Hall, John Hall, and M. Hall. Married to Olla F. Oliver Hall in Cole County, Missouri, on June 22, 1864. Father of George O. Hall. Graduated from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1839. Resident of Missouri in 1840. Admitted to the bar in 1841. Circuit attorney in Buchanan County, Missouri, in 1843. Served in the 1st Missouri Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and first lieutenant from 1846 to 1847.
