Simpson County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Sarah Hunt. Married to Susan Lane Hunt. Father of Nancy S. Hunt and John M. Hunt. Laborer in Simpson County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned three enslaved persons in Simpson County in 1850. Farmer in Simpson County in 1860. Served as a private in the 3rd Kentucky Cavalry Regiment (C.S.A.). Captured in Meigs County, Ohio, on June 20, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Chase, Ohio, from July 26, 1863, to August 20, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, Illinois, from August 22, 1863, to March 2, 1865. Transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland, for exchange on March 2, 1865. Signed a loyalty oath to the U.S. government on May 25, 1865.
