Powell County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Montgomery County, Kentucky, native. Son of William Martin and Elizabeth Huston Martin. Resident of Montgomery County, Kentucky, in 1850. Resident of Powell County in 1860. Farmer in Powell County in 1864. Served in the 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from October 9, 1861 to December 5, 1862. Reported as deserted at Gallatin, Tennessee, on December 5, 1862. Served in the 14th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry (U.S.A.) as a private. Served in the 53rd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (U.S.A.) as a private from November 1, 1864 to September 15, 1865.
