Louisville, Kentucky, resident and soldier. Louisiana native. Son of Charles Hawley and Nancy Hawley. Married to Sarah E. Lawson Hawley in Jefferson County, Kentucky, on June 26, 1860. Father of John L. Hawley and Maggie Hawley. Resident of Louisville in 1860. Served in the 28th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant, acting adjutant, and acting assistant quartermaster from January 23, 1862 to January 1865.
