Caldwell County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of John R. Boyd and Lorissa A. Jones Boyd. Married to Margaret J. Wilson Boyd in Crittenden County, Kentucky, on November 3, 1852. Father of Mary Boyd, Selina Boyd, John Boyd, and Joseph C. Boyd. Farmer in Caldwell County in 1850. Farmer in Caldwell County in 1860. Employed Sarah Franks as a domestic servant in Caldwell County in 1860. Served in the 48th Illinois Volunteer Infantry (USA) as a corporal and musician from September 14, 1861, to January 2, 1862. Served in the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a corporal from April 10, 1865, to September 20, 1865.
