Caldwell County, Kentucky, cooper, farmer and soldier. Ohio native. Son of John D. Byard. Married to Nancy Davis Byard in Crittenden County, Kentucky, on January 23, 1857. Father of Cynthia Byard, Oriana O. Byard, and James H. Byard. Stepfather of Mary E. Davis. Resident in Hopkins County in 1850. Cooper in Lyon County, Kentucky, in 1860. Farmer in Caldwell County, Kentucky, in 1863. Served in the 8th Kentucky Infantry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a private on October 21, 1861 to February 16, 1862. Reported as deserted from Fort Donelson, Tennessee, on February 16, 1862.
