Lawrence County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Wesley Thompson and Mary Spencer Thompson. Married to Elizabeth Moore Thompson in Lawrence County on August 31, 1853. Father of Francis Thompson, Bluford Thompson, Thomas J. Thompson, Felix W. Thompson, and William H. Thompson. Student in Lawrence County in 1850. Farmer in Lawrence County in 1860. Served in the 14th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as third sergeant, first sergeant, and second lieutenant from December 10, 1861, to January 31, 1865.
