Carter County, Kentucky, farmhand and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of James Wilhoit and Matilda Wilhoit. Resident of Carter County in 1850. Farmhand in Carter County in 1860. Served in the 22nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as sergeant and private from December 12, 1861. Reported as away without leave from November 2, 1862, to January 27, 1864. Sentenced by court martial and transferred to the 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.), serving as private to January 18, 1865.
