Lewis County, Kentucky, artist and soldier. Ohio native. Son of Shadrach Mitchell and Elizabeth Mitchell. Resident of Lewis County, Kentucky, in 1850. Artist in Lewis County in 1860. Served in the 22nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as quartermaster and first lieutenant from March 23, 1863, to August 3, 1863.
