Bath County, Kentucky, soldier. Bath County native. Son of Sanford Anderson and Susan Anderson. Student in Bath County in 1850. Served in the 10th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from September 9, 1862, to September 17, 1863. Captured by Colonel R. S. Cluke (C.S.A.) at Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, on March 22, 1863. Paroled at Camp Dennison, Ohio, on May 11, 1863.
