Clay County, Kentucky, farmer and solder. Kentucky native. Son of Thomas Cook and Ann Cook. Farmer in Clay County in 1860. Served in the 6th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from October 11, 1861, to January 1, 1863. Served in the 49th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as captain from January 1, 1863, to December 26, 1864. Served in the 6th Kentucky Cavalry (U.S.A.) as captain from July 1865 to September 6, 1865.
