Jefferson County, Kentucky, grocer and flour dealer. Kentucky native. Son of Matthew Gheen and Jane Gheen. Clerk in family grocery store in Louisville in 1850. Partner with Marshall Halbert in Louisville in 1859. Merchant in Louisville in 1860. Employed brother Charles Gheens as clerk in 1860. Signed a petition as a flour dealer in May 1861 to appoint W. G. Timberlake as flour inspector.
