Plasterer in New Albany, Indiana in 1850. Served in the 2nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry as captain and major (U.S.A.) from June 1863 until January 1, 1864. Served in 5th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry as colonel from January 1864 to March 25, 1865.
