Married to Eliza Kinsley Pratt in New York City, New York, on August 20, 1818. Graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, Orange County, New York, in 1818. Postmaster in Scott County from 1831 to 1838. Member of the House of Representatives for the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Scott County from 1837 to 1841, and in 1847. Resident of Scott County in 1840. Owned eleven enslaved persons in Scott County in1 1840. Member of the Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Scott County from 1841 to 1845. Tavern keeper in Scott County in 1850. Owned sixteen enslaved persons in Scott County in 1850. Hotel keeper in Scott County in 1860. Owned nine enslaved persons in Scott County in 1860.
