Father of Thomas Coleman, Elizabeth Coleman, John Coleman, Mary Coleman, Nano Coleman, Bannen M. Coleman, Ann Coleman, and Margaret Coleman. Moved to Louisville via New Orleans in 1837. Owned and operated the steamboats Saladin and Louisville in partnership with Thomas C. Coleman in Louisville until 1851. Owned a grocery in Toronto, Canada, in 1851. Owned the Louisville Rolling Mill Company in partnership with Thomas C. Coleman in Louisville from 1853 to 1875. Employed Mary Reardon, Bridget Conroy, Ann Geiger, and Joseph Skinner as domestic servants in Louisville in 1860.
