Louisville, Kentucky, physician, soldier, and state surgeon general. Chillicothe, Ohio, native. Son of Lucy Webb. Married Mary Buchannan in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 30, 1857. Father of Lucy Scott, Mary Scott, and Anna Scott. Attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1850. Physician in Fayette County, Kentucky, in 1850. Physician in Louisville in 1860. Employed Johana Ryan and Sallie Malone as domestic servants in Louisville in 1860. Served in the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a lieutenant colonel from March 1862 to March 1863. Appointed surgeon general for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in September 1863.
