Winchester, Kentucky, editor. Kentucky native. Son of Josiah A. Jackson and Elizabeth Martin Jackson. Resident of Estill County, Kentucky, in 1850. Editor of the National Union in Winchester in 1860. Served in the 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and captain from October 9, 1861 to November 7, 1862.
