Adair County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of James Turner and Catharine Turner. Farmer in Columbia, Kentucky, in 1860. Served in the 1st Kentucky Light Artillery Regiment (U.S.A.) as private and lieutenant from October 8, 1861, to January 8, 1863. Served in the 13th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as second lieutenant from December 23, 1863, to January 10, 1865.
