Octavia L. Zollicoffer, Mary D. Zollicoffer, Felicia K. Zollicoffer, and Louisa G. Zollicoffer. Newspaper publisher and printer in Paris, Tennessee; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Huntsville, Alabama, from 1828 to 1836. Editor of the Observer in Columbia, Tennessee. Served in the Seminole War as lieutenant of volunteers in 1836. Associate editor of the Whig Banner in Nashville in 1841. Adjutant general and comptroller for the State of Tennessee from 1845 to 1849. Senator for the State of Tennessee from 1849 to 1852. Representative for the U. S. Congress from 1852 to 1859. Delegate to the peace conference in 1860. Served in the Provisional Army of Tennessee as brigadier general in command of east Tennessee. Killed by Union troops in 1862.
