Minister in Charleston, Indiana, from 1853 to 1856. Minister of the Second Presbyterian Church in Nashville from 1856 to 1861. Minister of the Presybterian Church in Frankfort from 1862 to 1867. Served as an Inspector of the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, in 1865.
