Harlan County, Kentucky, farmer, merchant, and solider. Kentucky native. Married to Martha Spurlock. Father of George L. Spurlock, Mary L. Spurlock, Sarah Spurlock, Nancy Spurlock, Biron Spurlock, Janes Spurlock, and Curtis G. Spurlock. Farmer and merchant in Harlan County in 1860. First lieutenant and captain in the Harlan County Battalion of Kentucky State Militia from October 1862 to January 1863. Postmaster of Harlan Court House and Spurlock in Harlan County from September 1861 to November 1865.
