Father of Ann Hawthorn, Virginia Hawthorn, Margaret Hawthorn, Mary Hawthorn, Emily Hawthorn, Richard Hawthorn, Jacob Hawthorn, Sarah Hawthorn, and William Hawthorn. Store clerk in Wheeling, Virginia, from 1826 to 1836. Resident of Kentucky in 1837. Partner with Richard Southgate in the mercantile firm of Southgate, Hawthorn & Co. from 1837 to 1857.
