Henderson County, Kentucky, farmer, merchant, and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of William Holloway and Mary Hillyer Holloway. Married to Mollie Elliott Williams Holloway. Attended the Henderson Seminary. Member and elder of the Presbyterian Church. Merchant at Holloway & Company in Henderson County from 1854 to 1861. Captain of Captain James H. Holloway's Company in September 1861, called into the U.S. Service by General Robert Anderson to guard Lock No. 1 on the Green River. Captain in the 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) from January 1862 to June 1862. Major in the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) from September 1862 to January 1863. Promoted to lieutenant colonel of the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) from January 1863 to September 1863. Colonel of the 48th Enrolled Militia (U.S.A.), resigning in April 1864. Moved to Clark County, Kentucky in 1865.
