Madison, Indiana, soldier. Madison native. Son of Alouis Bachman. Attended Hanover College from 1856 to 1858. Attended the Kentucky Military Institute from 1858 to 1860. Organized the Madison City Greys in 1861. Captain in the Sixth Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Major and lieutenant colonel in the Nineteenth Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Died at the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862.
