Father of Ellen Stuart, William A. Stuart, Charles C. Stuart, Alfred Allen Stuart, and Lettie L. Stuart. Studied law under John Allen. Admitted to the bar in Meade County, Kentucky, in 1838. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Meade County in 1848 and 1849. Attorney in Meade County in 1850. Owned eleven enslaved persons in Meade County in 1850. Judge of the 3rd Judicial District of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1856 to 1867. Owned nine enslaved persons in Meade County in 1860.
