Your letter of the 11^th inst to his Excellency Gov^r Bramlette, has been referred to this office for reply. The Secretary of War has called on Ky for 10 000 men to serve for six months. They are to ^be^ mustered into the U S service, and to be armed, clothed and subsisted, by the Government. They are to take the place of those veterans now among us guarding different posts, whose services are wanted at the front. I inclose for your information General Orders N^o 3 issued from these H^d qrs. As the time for raising these troops is very limited, it will require prompt and immediate action to insure success.
