I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 19^th inst. His Excellency Gov Bramlette has received notice that Lt Col J H Hammond was appointed to take charge of the depot of drafted men at Louisville, but has not received any instructions from the War Dep^t. as to their disposition.

The prospects of raising the 10000 six months men looks more encouraging every day, and as the people are becoming aroused as to the importance of the matter, I think by the middle of the ensuing week I will be able to make a report of a large number already recruited at the different posts of rendezvous. As suggested in your communication of the 17^th inst we will commission the officers for each regiment necessary to make the necessary requisitions, Our agents at the various posts will be instructed as to the manner of making these requisitions.
