Sir. Some time in july last, there were arrested, in this Hancock County Ky 13 young men citizens of said County, who were about leaving for the rebel army, They were arrested by the by ~~the~~ Home Guards taken to Louisville, and from there sent to Camp Morton and are now at Johnsons Island," one of the member has since died of camp fever. Five of the number viz. Gideon.G. Snider Jesse.C. Morison, Thomas Long, Joe McIntire and John Jenkins are willing to take the oath to support the consitution of the united states, as they write home to their parents, and that they were over persuaded to do what they did, also that they are desirous of being good & loyal citizens, They are willing to give bond with good security for the faithful performance of their loyalty: Their parents are willing to go with them in bond as their security.

We a part of the Home Guard who arrested the young men have every confidence, that if you will have them released, on these condition they will from this time forward make good and loyal citizens. They are all under age inexperienced boys
