To His Excellency the Govenor of Kentucky

Your Petitioner Jack Jackson would respectfully represent that he was indicted for ~~[...]~~ betting by the Bourbon Circuit Court at the April Term ~~1863~~ 1862 and fined at the July Term 1863 by confession of judgment the sum of fifty dollars, the bet was made on the fact of Gen^l Zollicaffers being killed at the battle of Millspring. Your petitioner betting that he was not killed. The bet was a very foolish one on the part of your petitioner for it was made some ^time^ after the battle and at a time when any tolerably well informed man ~~with~~ ought to have had no doubt of the fact. but it was made on a public day in the town of Paris, in the evening, after the warming influence of the genial social enjoyment in after incident to such a day. and under the provocation of considerable disputatious argument pro and con. A few days afterwards the bet was cancelled or with drawn by the parties upon the petitioner paying the winner a pair of boots.

He Respectfully prays your H Excellency to remit said fine.
