To His Excellency
James F. Robinson
Governor of Kentucky

Your petitioner William White would respectfully state that he was tried upon an indictment for malicious stabing at the May term of the Jefferson Circuit Court & found guilty & his punishment fixed at seventeen months in the States Prison.

Your petitioner is an innocent man, & will suffer as such, unless your Excellency should grant him a pardon.

Your petitioner has a wife & two children, a son & Daughter, & besides is the sole surport of five other small children, the children belonging to a blind brother.

Your petitioner is a mechanic, an Engineer by trade, & from the fruits of his labour, his own family,, & his blind brother & his five children live.

The prosecuting witness has sued your petitioner for personal damages in the sum of $2000 --. Should a verdict be rendered in his favor, on account of my not being able to defend, & he with execution come upon
my family & those dependent upon me, in their dark misfortune, & take all, truly would they all be ruined Your petitioner humbly prays your Excellency to grant him a pardon & restore him to his family.
