To his Excellency Jas Robinson Governor &c,

The affiant John W. Elliott says that at the February Term 1863 of the Bracken Circuit Court. he was presented by the grand Jury of Bracken Circuit Court. for selling &c Liquor to slaves and that as soon as he heard of it -- he went to the court. and entered his appearance and confessed Judgement and was find by the Court $50⁰⁰

He says the circumstances are as follows There was an oyster party at his house -- and the Negro mentioned in the Indictment was there waiting on the young men present -- and that during the evening -- he gave the slave a glass of Wine -- Not intending to violate any Law. That he did it unthoughtedly= and Not intending to do any wrong, He ask your Excellency to remit so much of the fine -- as is due the Commonwealth
