I am in receipt of yours of Feby 23^rd and in answer will State that the Matter of your Petition has been fordwarded to the Governor about Ten days ago. we thought it better to Send it to the Gov^r direct.

I have no doubt but it will be Seccessful you can urge your friends to remind the Gov^r about it. there is not the least doubt in my mind but he will act upon it.

Your family are well. So also, your old friends.

I would like to inform you what is going on here were it not for all the Secesh about me at this moment,
