Gentlemen -- There are Eighteen Kentuckians here who are in trouble -- I wish to make a few suggestions -- they are these -- That you Send a Strong petition to Gov. Magoffin making ~~making~~ him call upon the Governor of this State to Show cause why he is holding us in confinement and proceed immediately with measures to obtain our release -- That failing there are two other ways -- one is to take every rebel that my friends can get hold of and then make their friends petition, and have us released upon conditions that they shall be released. The other is a Straight out exchange by the Government -- I want the first plan pressed -- it is the most applicable to our cases. Gentlemen lose no time in this matter -- We want to See the Stars and Stripes in defense of which we are willing to die. I hope to see you in a Short time. I remain

From Henry County -- W. R. Haskins (Blakely Logan released) We expect strong efforts on the part of our friends for a release.

There are about Seventy Tennesseans here who have been held as prisoners of War for about four months -- Amongst ~~them~~whom are the following gentlemen -- Jno Anderson, Wash Evans, H. W. M^cDonald A. A. Pearson, W^m Stone, Hugh Alexander John D. Blackford and Jno. F. Hamit of Halmilton County. D^r S. M Doak of Green Co. -- W^m Homer of Knoxville and E. Hodges of Sevier Co. And many
other promient citizens of E. Tennessee. They have been informed that they are held as prisoners of war and are anxious to get away from here. You will therefore make their case known to any one of the following gentlemen. -- D. C. Trenhite of Hamilton Co. J. G. Spears of Bledsoe, Mat Cleaveland of Hamilton, Col. Bird of Roane and Col. Carter.
