Logan Equity and Criminal Court

July Term 1862
The Commonwealth of Kentucky Plaintiff
against } On Indictment for Murder.
Nelson (a negro, slave the property of Emund Ayres Defendant

In this prosecution the defendant was tried for and convicted of the Crime of Murder at the July term 1862 of this court and was ~~directed~~ sentenced by the Court ~~by the Court~~ to be executed by the Sheriff of Logan County on the 13^th day of September 1861 And the Governor respited the execution of said sentence until the 15^th day of Novr 1861 Previous to that time said Nelson was taken by force from the jailor of Logan County in whose custody her was, by a portion of the Military force of the so called Confederate States, and was subsequently lodged in the jail of Warren County, from which he has been remanded by order of this Court to the jail of Logan County. Said Nelson being now before this Court. His Identity being clearly shown to the Court, and the time fixed for the execution of said sentence haveing elapsed, it is therefore ordered that these facts be certifed to the Governor, that the execution of said sentence may be ordered as the law directs. And the Clerk of this Court is directed to transmit a Certified Copy of this order to the Governor of this state for his action in the premises.
