My Dear Friend,

Your letter in reply to mine has come to hand & Ias I am hastened I hasten to reply. A Petition was sent down to you & I suppose in the numerous things, of the same kind ^sent to you^ it has been lost. But I will give you data so that you can act officially.

In Squire Haynes court on the ~~the~~24^th of August ^1861^ W H W^m Mullen was fined the sum of $5. for a Breach of the Peace.

In the Police Court of the Town of Harrodsburg on the 4^it of December 1861 he was fined the sum of $5 & costs.

I became his security for those fines for he was not able to pay them, besides I thought they were unjust. All of
the facts of the two cases were fully stated in the Peition sent down to you & sworn to by M^cMullen. I do not know whether ~~you~~ to send you down another petition or not but am advised that a statement such as is made in this letter will be sufficient I am very well satisfied of one thing and is this that you will do everything for me that you can. If you should think that another Petition is necessary answer immediately and I will send it down.

We have no news here except the organization of a new "Shome Guard" to catch John Morgan. Nathan Stone is one of the officers.
