Two judgments were rendered at this term of the Fleming Circuit Court against Charles Bramwel of Harrison County, one for a fine of $100 for betting on the election of president in 1856, and one on a petition to recover by the Commonwealth the amount won, which was $100.

M^r Bramwel is said to be a clever worthy gentleman, and only acted in making the bet as the agent, or partner of other gentlemen, who were not sued, and upon whom the penalty will not fall,

I respectfully unite with the friends of M^r Bramwel in asking that these judgments be remitted by you, as I think under the circumstances, he presents strong claims upon the clemency of the executive,
