To His Excellency Beriah Magoffin
Governor of the Commonth of Kentucky

Your Petitioner Larkin Williams would most respectfully represent unto your Excellency that at the April Term 1861 of the Knox Circuit Court he was fined fifty dollars for carrying concealed deadly weapons. He says that he his wife was in such condition that he could not attend to the trial of the case. He says that through predjudice ill will and a very bad haird man a witness in the [cause] swore that the petitioner did carry concealed a pistol. He says that the Pistol was handed to him by a friend to leave at a certain place and that he only had the pistol for that purpose and that he never carried it concealed and only had it in his possession about one half hour. He says that the witness who testified against him he could impeach by more reputable men in Knox County than could fit in the Courthouse at one time and his character is so notoriously bad that he thinks strange that the Court did not take judicial notice of it. He says that he is a poor man and that it will cause a great sacrifice toof his property to have this fine to pay That he is a man
of a family and that he has to make a living for them by the sweet of his brow He says that it is a moral imposibily to get money in this county ~~and~~ since the recent unprecedented panic set in the premises consider he prays that his Excellency may extend to him the arm of his Executive clemency and he prays for a remission of the fine
