To his Excellency B Magoffin

Your Petitioner A, J, Hand Jun., states that he was fined fifty Dollars for carring consealed wepons by the Pendleton Circuit Court. at its April Term 1861 that a copas has gone against him. for said fine it is true that he did carry said wepon but the Reson he did so was to protect. his person from a threttend assault. of one Wm Ray. who was carring a Lage Colts Revolver with the avoded purpos of killing your petitioner. which he had been informed of & was advisd to carry wepans for his defence. he states that if he had of been at court he would have been able to prove all of said acts by A. J, Hand Sen F M Fuget & A G Roberts Esq. who know of the said Ray. Carring said pistol for him but his wife was confined at the time of Court. so that he could not leve home. & his Atty advised him to attend to his
Famaly. & depend on the Exetive Clemencey. he filed the affidavit of Hand & Roberts. Fuget being in the Southren Army. & he cannot obtaine his affidavit wherefore he prays that your Exelencey will ~~pardon~~ Remit said fine.
